Geography Experienced at Nose Hill Park

Social Studies and nature

SCHOOL FOR BOYS: At North Point, our students have eagerly embraced the joy of learning once again after the Christmas break, with the gentle winter temperatures creating perfect opportunities for outdoor exploration. This week, the Grade 8 boys ventured into Nose Hill Park as part of their Outdoor Education class. Along the trails, students discovered porcupines resting in trees and explored remarkable geographical features, observing how the remnants of the former quarry have shaped the park’s landscape. From this stunning vantage point, they were able to see a vivid representation of key landmarks across Calgary’s four quadrants. This enriching experience was intricately linked to a Social Studies assignment, where students identified the geographical boundaries as well as the natural and human-made landmarks that define each quadrant of our vibrant city.
