Students of North Point’s Best High School in Canada are putting their skills to the test by building squirrel sized picnic tables using kits provided by Skills Canada Alberta (@skillsalberta)! in the STEM option class.
This hands-on project is more than just cute — it’s a fun, practical way for students to explore STEM, trades, and tech in action. From measuring and drilling to design thinking and problem-solving, they’re learning by doing… and the squirrels are loving it! Our Head of School, Brent Devost, also stopped by to supervise the construction.
Big shout-out to Skills Canada Alberta for giving future builders a chance to learn by doing! All of the necessary building materials, hardware, personal protective equipment (gloves and glasses), and tools, including Robertson screwdrivers, an electric drill, drill bits, and aluminum square were furnished by Skills Canada Alberta This organization, funded by the Canadian government, numerous construction companies, engineering firms, colleges, and others, seeks to promote careers in skilled trades and technologies to students across Alberta.
