Greg is tremendously excited about joining the North Point team. He describes himself as a “servant leader” who puts the needs of his colleagues and students first. He believes that with knowledge, the right tools and motivation, there are no barriers to learning.
Greg has been teaching and leading in education for 30 years. He has taught in both the private and public-school systems. His previous experience leading and developing a successful private school will be an asset to North Point. In the public system, Greg served as a Learning Support Specialist for more than ten years, where he supervised the programming of students with various special needs and learning challenges. Over the years, he has taught in elementary, junior high and high school settings.
Greg’s passion is “character education”. Over the past twenty years, he has led teachers and students in theoretical and experiential explorations of values. Most importantly, he has provided opportunities for students to transfer these values into intentional action in their school, workplace and community. His moto in this process is, “Go out of your way to be kind to the lonely, the sad and even the mad”.
Greg completed his B. Ed. in 1994 at the University of Alberta. He later completed his Masters in Education Leadership/ Administration in 2017 at Gonzaga University, where his research focused on Character Education.
Greg was born and raised in Alberta, which has inspired a deep love and respect for the land and climate of this great province. He is an avid outdoorsman who can be found most weekends and holidays exploring the foothills and Rocky Mountains by foot, ski or bike. With his wife Catherine of 29 years, he has raised two wonderful daughters (Gabby and Sophie), who are now pursuing their passions in post-secondary education.
Greg’s hope is that his deep body of knowledge and experience, combined with his motivation to connect and collaborate with students and colleagues, will add to the success of North Point School.
